Port Townsend Public Library
Alphabet Installation

Early in 2018, the City of Port Townsend commissioned our members to create a series of three-dimensional alphabet letters to be hung in the Children’s Room at the Port Townsend Library as a permanent art installation.

Twenty six members accepted the challenge and the letters were completed and installed in the Library on Monday, December 10, 2018. Diana Gipson, a member of SDA-NP, has been the coordinator for this project and assisted in the installation. The letters are all uppercase, colorful, and have a whimsical childlike theme.

Melody Eisler, the Librarian at Port Townsend Library, sent the following:
“Thank you again for all you have done to make this art a reality.  It is already so joyful to see the children’s responses. The art grand opening will be Friday, February 22 at 6 p.m.  We will plan a special alphabet story time that night to get kids and families out as well.”
