Indigo dyed organic cotton gauze scarf

This is a traditional Japanese shibori pattern of undulating lines( Takewaku) done in an ori-nui stitch. Areas were blocked out to resist the uptake of the indigo dye.

This piece was stitched in ori nui. The threads were tightened, then put into a ferrous sulfate bath. It was then wrapped on a pole, areas blocked out and overdyed in indigo.
